He had a traumatic brain injury, and multiple other injuries and infections. As a result, he underwent rehabilitation at Gaylord Hospital and has not been able to work since the accident. This case was brought against the defendant driver, and the rental car company.

The case settled for $2.5 million dollars before trial. The case was known as Wickman v. Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Young Kim.
