Connecticut Pardons.
A Connecticut pardon will fix your criminal record in Connecticut. When you are convicted of a crime, the conviction is added to your criminal record. Your criminal record, if it is bad, will negatively impact your future. The record will be used by judges, and prosecutors to help them determine appropriate sentences, and punishments for your crimes. It will also be viewed by prospective employers, landlords, and other bureaucrats when they evaluate you for jobs, opportunities, or licenses. Having bad criminal record will significantly limit your important opportunities.
Get a second chance with a Connecticut Pardon.
You can fix your criminal record by getting a pardon. A pardon is your second chance. An absolute pardon, also known as an expungement, results in a complete erasure of your criminal record in Connecticut.
Who is eligible for a pardon?
Anyone can seek a pardon as long as they have no cases currently pending, and if enough time has passed since the conviction for which a pardon is sought. If the charge was a misdemeanor, then three years must have passed since the conviction. If the charge was a felony, then five years must have passed since the conviction.
If you recently had a case nolled, that that case is still, technically, still a pending case. A nolled will be dismissed after thirteen months. You can also file a motion to have it dismissed sooner than thirteen months.
What is the Connecticut pardon process?
The process to get a pardon takes several months, and starting in around the middle of 2020 the process is largely done on-line. Once the on-line application has started you will have six months to fully complete the application.
Before the application is started, however, there are many required documents that must be obtained. So, generally, the process consists of (1) gathering the required documents, and then (2) starting the on-line application process, and (3) attending the hearing when required.
Achieve a pardon, and be rewarded.
If you are considering a pardon, don’t delay. The process, while not simple, is achievable. You can imagine how rewarding it is when you can officially say you have a clean record. You will be truly given a second chance. Many clients find getting their pardon highly rewarding for many reasons.
