Who is the CHRO and why do I need to know about them?
The CHRO is the Commission of Human Rights and Opportunities. Known as the CHRO, it is a State of Connecticut administrative agency that enforces civil rights law. In many employment law cases, you must file the case with the CHRO before you file a lawsuit in the Superior Court. This is called exhausting administrative remedies, and is a large part of employment law.
If I am being harassed, should I simply quit my job and sue?
No. Before you take an important step like quitting your job, seek the advice of an employment law lawyer. First, by quitting your job, you have caused your own lost wage damages. Second, some conduct that you consider to be harassment might not be severe enough to be actionable. It will depend on the facts. We recommend a remote consultation to review the facts in detail before you decide whether to leave your job.
